    Investment Criteria

Companies in which Emergent invests will typically have some or all of the following characteristics:

A leading-edge proprietary technology or a unique and proprietary product or design
A national or international market opportunity
An experienced management team, or the presence of dedicated, visionary and motivated founders
A desire to tap into the business expertise of Emergent's membership
A technology or business model that the market wants and that will positively impact people's lives
The likelihood of relatively rapid commercialization and profitability
The opportunity to become a leader in its market
       Shared values
Initial capital previously raised from founders, friends or grants
The existence of a clear exit strategy, preferably within a maximum of five years

Finally, although Emergent does not invest solely in companies or technologies that originate from the University of Florida or the surrounding geographic area, it is most attentive to those that do.

Naturally not every company will possess all of these qualities. But it is important to understand that these are the criteria we will be reviewing when considering an investment opportunity.
